SEOUL, Sept 22, 2026 – Hyundai Motor Company's all-electric high-performance model IONIQ 6 N has won the Performance category at the German Car of the Year (GCOTY) Awards 2027, months after being named "World Performance Car."
An independent jury of automotive journalists recognized IONIQ 6 N for its combination of outstanding performance, precise handling and driver-focused design. This latest accolade underscores Hyundai Motor's continued commitment to performance, innovation and driver engagement within the high-performance EV segment.
This award is a testament to our commitment to delivering the driving exhilaration that performance drivers crave without compromise. N stands for 'Born in Namyang, honed at Nürburgring,' as demonstrated by the i30 N's successful debut in Germany nearly a decade ago, and this award recognizes our progress in next-generation electric performance and holds great significance for N. We will continue to push the boundaries of performance through emerging technologies and motorsports such as the Nürburgring 24 Hours as a development platform for future N models.

The independent GCOTY jury recognized IONIQ 6 N for its combination of impressive performance, precise handling and a driver-focused concept. The all-electric high-performance model has been developed to deliver an engaging driving experience both on the road and on the racetrack.
Specially developed features such as N e-Shift and N Active Sound+ add another dimension to the driving experience and strengthen the connection between the driver and car.
IONIQ 6 N brings together the three pillars of Hyundai N: Corner Rascal, Racetrack Capability and Everyday Sports Car. This approach combines dynamic cornering characteristics and racetrack capability with the qualities required for everyday use.
With features including N e-Shift and N Active Sound+, IONIQ 6 N is designed to make its performance more engaging and provide the driver with a more direct and emotional driving experience.
IONIQ 6 N continues Hyundai Motor's strong track record at the GCOTY Awards. The company’s models have received the following GCOTY accolades in recent years:
The GCOTY Awards are independent automotive awards decided by a jury of around 40 experienced automotive journalists. Following extensive test drives, the jury selects winners in the Compact, Premium, Luxury, Budget and Performance categories from key new models introduced during the previous twelve months.
The five category winners then compete for the overall "German Car of the Year" title.
